Thank you for your web site. I was pleased to find the guestbook signing of my remote cousin Graham Van Keuren, who has gone thru many difficulties in his search to help with ministry.
I found your site while searching for Graham's name.

Mrs. Tramontano, if you let me know whether you could get other photos, I will try to figure out how to get the liturgy photos to you. Also looking forward to seeing you if you come to Wilmington!

I found your parish as I am researching the Wilmington Diocese. We are presently comtemplating a move. I found your website wonderful. The Parish profile is informative...fantastic. I love the idea of the song schedule being printed ahead and really like the Gather book. Full and active participation... great job. Sadly, I was not able to get pictues from Triduum 2005. As I am very interested in Liturgical Ministry, I would like to have seen them. Great Job !!

We left Resurrection parish in 1999 because of a job relocation. I miss it so much! On a whim I "googled" the church. What a wonderful website!!! It is truly a great mission and displays your wonderful community. Perhaps some ideas can be shared in my new parish. Thanks.

I'm back! I heard the call after a 10 year break to teach CFP. After so much Resurrection has given me, I had to give back. I ask you to pray for me to guide Jesus Christ into the every-day-lives of 12 children God has placed in my class and esp. on Sunday at CFP.

On behalf of the family, thank you to everyone who touched our Danny this past weekend. I said to someone at Hershey last month that Labor Day was not a good idea because people would not be there because of the holiday weekend. She replied, "Oh yes they will." She was right. reply to Jeannie and Dan -
There wasn't a dry eye at the funeral this morning (9/6/04) and I found out the derivation of 'Nare' -- apparently the young Dan liked to talk so much that his dad called him 'narrator' which eventually got shortened to 'Nare.'   I do believe I'll be thinking of this great father, his big heart and joy during my next visit to Kennywood. ... Ed Baum - (webmaster/ "monessen65")

Thank you for the updates on the Roarty family. We graduated from high school with Dan or 'Nare' as we called him. We are still struggling with this sudden and tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers have been for Kelly and the kids. When we found out about your site (through another friend) we were thrilled to be updated on how they are all doing. We are happy to see how wonderful this parish has been to them. With us living so far away, we wish we could help them. Thanks again for all you are doing for the Roarty family. God Bless you all.

There is a purple ribbon project that was started in the Heavens that is becoming highly commendable. Light poles, trees and churches are being decorated with these purple ribbons. The purple ribbons represent the glorious return of Jesus Christ. The second advent of Christ will be the most wonderful event the world has ever experienced. The purple ribbons represent Jesus return in the sky and not on land.
Please note that a similar purple ribbon campaign was started in Desert Storm which regard our American soldiers for their safety and safe return home. Purple ribbons are becoming highly commendable today and it would be great to implement both the Return of Christ and our American soldiers with the purple ribbon campaign!

Hello, I found your site by surfing in google, nice and well done site, very interesting topic and design. Have a nice day and I'll be back at your site soon.
greetings from Germany

Found on web search. School friend and - miles and years later - co-minister with Fr. Dave - just heard of his death and went looking for a site. Thought you all would be blessed to know of this stroke of Providence: You surely have heard Dave going on about his role in "The King and I" in high school. There were two male leads, Jim Herring and Dave. Long story short: Dave went on to the seminary. You know the rest. Jim followed a successful but winding path, and was ordained a Norbertine last June, just in time for our 40th graduation anniversary ... just in time for one singer from Cardinal Dougherty to step into ministry, as another was preparing to "travel further."
Fr. Mast, the homily on "crazy love" made me laugh and mourn at the same time. Oh, the pranks! Oh, the jokes! You couldn't have described Fr. Dave better, from Day One to Day Glory. Thank you. Bless your eloquence.

Our wonderful daughter Susan will be your new Youth Minister. We are very impressed with the process implemented by your search committee in the selection of the person best suited for this ministry. We believe that prayer should be an intricate part of all decision making and I personally have had a life long relationship with the Holy Spirit. I depend on His guidance every day of my life in every action I undertake. I am very much at peace with my daughters decision to join your community and I know that you will all come to love her as much as her family does. We are extremely proud of her and all she has accomplished thru the grace of God. He has and continues to be the guiding force in her life. God Bless You all and you will be in our prayers and thoughts each day. Take care of our most prized gift from God, our Susan. We cannot find the words to express our pride in her and love for her.
God bless you and your entire parish family.
With love,

reply to Ron -
Taizé Prayer is a repetitive chant of certain melodies that lend themselves to the movings of The Spirit. "Ubi Caritas" is an excellent example. When done with the choir, we usually start with bass only for a couple of repetitions. Then add altos for a couple, add tenors for a couple then finally sopranos. All four voices would continue for a while then sopranos would drop out, tenors and altos until the last repetitions are back to bass only.

Taizé Prayer takes its name from the city of Taizé in France where it originated. When songs are done in this format, nothing is structured. A small group would start a song and others join in, drop out or back in again as they feel moved. It's a very moving experience to hear the melodies and the parts crescendo and decrescendo, blend and dissolve randomly. Ofttimes when you think it's just about to fade away, it slowly swells again! After a meditative reading and a silent period, another song is sung. The entire service usually lasts between 30 and 45 minutes.

Thanks for asking!! - Ed (webmaster)

I found you by Ed Baum's e-mails. What exactly is a Taizé Prayer? I've never heard of it.
Your website is excellent and your tribute to Fr. Dave was most moving, I had tears in my eyes as I read all of it.

It is with great sadness that I learn of Fr. Dave's passing. My parent's are active parishioners at St. John's/Holy Angels, and through them I had the distinct privilege of making Fr. Dave's acquaintance, while he presided there.
Fr. Dave's contagious energy and joy I saw as an awakening- an invitation to interact... to rejoice, which became a part of my heart, as I'm sure it has yours.
His legacy, of course, is with the children, and it is for them I weep. They have lost a hero - a man who believed in them and gave them a home in the church.
Fr. Dave I will miss you.

Father Dave and I have been friends since grade school. I was blessed to have him in my life. He was a remarkable human being who beamed with God's love.
A little over a year ago Father Dave celebrated the funeral Mass of another friend. At the luncheon he gave the grace and made some remarks about our friend Diane. He told her children she was a wonderful wife, mother and a great dancer. I'm sure Dave and Diane are up in heaven jitterbugging as they look down on us. He will remain in my heart and mind until I see him again.

Tuesday, October 8, 2002 - earth time
Sweet, holy, Father Dave,
This is from Peggy Hirsh, the lady you always called "Pat"!
As soon as I was able to compose myself this morning after learning of your return to the Father, I began to praise the Father and ask him to carry you home to his arms. When I spoke to my son, Christopher Socorso, (who remembered you gave him his First Communion with Jesus),he also promised prayer to accompany you on your journey. He laughed with me over the phone as he remembered how you delighted in making Easter and Christmas meaningful to the youngest children at St. John the Beloved many years ago, when Chris was preschool age.
I feel the need to talk to you again.
My last conversation with you ended when you, ever the shepherd, promised to pray for me in my grieving over the fact my Mom no longer knew me as I touched her arm gently as she lay dying those long days in May. I had tearfully told you that "I needed to try to comfort you because I couldn't do it for my Mom."
You said that "you knew..."[what I was feeling] because your "Dad also didn't know [you]..." at some point in his illness. The fact that you allowed me my gesture and your promise, "I'LL PRAY FOR YOU" will always stay with me as a memory of your beautiful spirit.
Your ending days' gentle holiness is a gift I will treasure always. You remain in my heart.
P.S. Look up my Mom - she loved the Jersey shore too! Who knows what goes on in heaven? Parties?? "Eye has not seen..."

I'm trying to locate where I can find a copy of the Celtic Alleluia. I see in your liturgies that each song has a GC number. Is this a hymnal or song book? Do you know where I can find a copy of the Celtic Alleluia?
Thanks,

My name is Edmund Marco and it's a pleasure to sign your guestbook. I work for an advertising agency in London. I think it's hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

You're one of our bookmarks...
Please forward this to Father Dave. Thanks.
We're going away on vacation and I wanted to share a neat idea before I forget...
In May my husband Lou and I were at Michigan State University's St. John's Student Parish in East Lansing.
Here's an idea for future Pentecost liturgies. We were there 3 weeks before Pentecost so we did not experience what was being planned. (from the 5/12/02 bulletin):
PENTECOST READERS NEEDED: Sunday, May 19, we will celebrate the great feast of Pentecost. To celebrate our unity and diversity here at St. John's, the First Reading from Acts will be read in a variety of foreign languages.
If you would like to participate in the language of your culture[sic] background at either [Mass times listed here], please sign up...
Rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 15, at 6:30 p.m. in Church.

Neat, huh? Wonder if we could do it here at Resurrection?? By the way, St. John's University Parish rivals us. Sometime I'll tell you all about it.

Peggy, we have done multi-lingual things at Resurrection, too! Greetings/salutations in various languages at Pentecost, for example. For Christmas of 2001, the choir sang Silent Night in English, Spanish, French and German. - webmaster

I love Resurrection. I was just wondering if it has a Bible Study group? If so, when and where does it meet? Can anyone attend?

Jim, we do have Bible Study every Tuesday morning at 10:00; It's called 'Lectio Divina.' Henry Schaefer also conducts evening sessions. - webmaster

I was actually searching the Diocese of Wilm. website trying to figure out where Father Baumgartel had gotten to. It led me here. I attended St. Elizabeth school (12 yrs) and Church and remember thinking back then that Father was one of the neatest priests a kid could know. I am in search of a new parish and plan to attend Resurrection this weekend now that I know Fr. Baumgartel is there. Looking forward to attending Mass at your Parish! Hope all is well with you Father...

In paragraph 1036, the 1992 "Catechism of the Catholic Church" infallibly defines the doctrine that the eternally lost are many; and the eternally saved are few - even among Catholics. I believe that it is time for us to follow the example of the Saints, and to defend the doctrine that the lost are many and the saved are few - even among Catholics. Surfing USA Parishes and leaving prayer request. I will submit to you also. Hi,
I am searching all churches in different states and leaving a prayer request. I am in South Jersey. Some have prayer line and some do not. However, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask for prayer. I would be most grateful if you would include my cousin Rudy in your daily prayers who is recovering from a massive heart attack, his sister Yolanda and her husband Lou who she is taking care of. Lou is in his early 70's and battling Alzheimer. I would also like to include my husband Francis, daughter Sandra and her husband Bob and children Andrew, Nicholas & Gina, all my relatives, all those I care about and myself. Thank you and God bless you.
In Christian Love,
What a Beautiful Web Site you have.

Please pray for Father Robert Moses, an assistant pastor at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 W. Lemon St., Lakeland, FL. I hope God will show him how to become more kind, discreet, understanding and considerate of others as a priest.
Thank you and God bless you!

The Pastoral Plan of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops calls for “a public information and education effort to deepen understanding of the humanity of the unborn”. In order to foster society’s understanding of the humanity of the unborn, it needs to become common for Christian women to give temporary, prenatal names to their CHILDREN IN THE WOMB. Then, in the same way that we pray for other members of the congregation when they are ill or otherwise in need, the church would pray for its unborn children BY NAME. This would be a powerful way for us to demonstrate that we believe that a fetus is an individual human being who deserves the right to life.

God called Isaiah BY NAME from his mother’s womb (Isaiah 49:1) and both John the Baptist (Luke 1:13) and Our Lord Jesus (Luke 2:21) were named before they were even conceived. The idea that one’s name can be changed has been embraced by both God the Father (Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah)and Jesus (Simon to Peter).

If giving a name to her unborn child helps a mother understand the humanity of that child then she will not likely seek an abortion. Although we might try to prevent an abortion by attempting to convince someone who is about to enter an abortion clinic that she should stop and give her child a pre-natal name, it seems that earlier exposure to this concept would be a more effective way of preventing the abortion. We need to make prenatal names such a part of society’s fabric that a women who would never consider going to church would embrace the idea of giving a prenatal name to the baby in her womb simply because it has become common to give unborn children the dignity and benefit of a name.

First, pray about. If it still makes sense to you then proceed.

Second, implement it in your church. Talk about it to expectant mothers, put a notice in your church bulletin, and pray for the unborn of your church by name when you bring your petitions before the Lord.

Third, disseminate the idea to others. Send this idea to others who in turn can pray, implement, and disseminate. If you have editorial skills or can otherwise express this idea better, feel free to make whatever changes you see fit. Print it out for those who don’t have e-mail and forward it to those who do.

My family moved to Hockessin two years ago from Wilmington. We are looking for a church that has a deep sense of community for our two youngest children. We have been disappointed in the churches we have attended out here. A friend suggested Resurrection. We attended this past Sunday and I felt good about the service. Great web site!!!

We joined Resurrection parish when we moved to Delaware in 1970. The parish was just getting started with Fr. Herron as pastor. We left to be part of St. John the Beloved parish for several years while our children went to school there. Now that the children are grown up we've been back in the Resurrection fold for the past few years and feel like we are truly "home" again. I saw the Web page article in The Dialog. I think the site is extremely well done and very informative.
